Making Money Online - Coaching and Counseling
Making Money Online – Coaching and Counseling

Welcome back to the How to Succeed in Making Money Online Series. This is the final part of the 5 part money making series. To recap the previous weeks, in part one, I introduced you to the concept of affiliates and discussed how to make money online with affiliate marketing programs. That was followed up with part two and the discussion about incorporating and developing information product creation to your website.

In part three, I discussed membership marketing sites; what they are, what they do, and how to build one. Last week in part four, I discussed freelance work and how to find clients.

For our final part (five), the focus will be on coaching. Coaching (sometimes referred to as life coaching or counseling) is used to help people who are transitioning in their lives and offers ways to help them plan goals and take the steps to realize those goals. Simply put, a coach is someone that guides you on a path to success with the aid of advice and guidance.

Is Coaching Right for You?

Maybe you have been toying with the idea of becoming a coach, but are not 100% sure you are the right person for the job. Let’s take a look at the top 5 traits of successful and highly effective coaches to see if you have what it takes.

  • Insight – the ability to look at a complex list of problems, situations, or circumstances and be able to see patterns. A strong coach is able to identify the real underlying issues and work with the client to find new ways of dealing with these struggles.
  • Listener – coaching is more than finding the solution to a problem. It takes active listening skills; hearing, understanding, providing feedback, deferring judgment, and responding appropriately.
  • Experience – while coaching does not require a degree, it does require some experience. Often times, coaches will select a niche that they have personally experienced struggles themselves and decide to assist clients with the proven tips they discovered on their road to on-going personal growth. A coach is someone with exquisite self-awareness and high emotional intelligence.
  • Empathy – the ability to have a strong sense of caring and a deep curiosity about people and their problems
  • Desire – to have an intense passion to help people who are struggling and an interest in helping others achieve personal/professional growth

Additional attributes include:

  • Authenticity – don’t pretend to be what you are not
  • Perceptive – very intuitive, curious, and inquiring
  • Learner – continuous learner of the craft of coaching and life experiences
  • Vision – the ability to focus on the important details

More Reasons to Become a Coach

Did you know that coaching is one of the fastest group industries? More and more people are dissatisfied with their personal and professional lives that they are seeking out the advice of life coaches.

Although many coaches meet face to face with their clients, technology has made it possible to work via teleconferencing and skyping options.

Online coaching makes it easy to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of both you and your client. This also means lower overhead compared to a traditional “brick and mortar” business.

Did I mention that coaching allows you to be your own boss? You can start your own business with the opportunity to branch out.

Most importantly coaching gives you the opportunity of being a valuable contributor within society by helping others. Think of what could be more rewarding then shaping individuals and helping them to overcome life challenges and achieve their goals.

The Next Steps

If coaching is sounding more like the career you want to pursue, the next step would be to decide on the type of coaching you want to practice.

  • Personal Coaching
    • Career
    • Health and Wellness
    • Life
    • Relationship
    • Motivational
    • Personal Development
  • Business Coaching
    • Business Startup
    • Executive
    • Leadership
    • Marketing
    • Entrepreneurship
  • Wealth Coaching
    • Debt Management
    • Financial
    • Prosperity

You might then decide to become certified or accredited. While there are no licensing, certification, or even accreditation requirements to become a life coach, that doesn’t mean you don’t want to obtain skills to help you in your practice.

One of the best ways to decide if coaching is right for you is by jumping in and experiencing. To get started as a coach, you’ll want to look at how others have done it. You can even hire a coach to teach you how to coach. You will also want to make sure that you have the kind of experience others are willing to pay for. Many life coaches offer free consultations and may be willing to help show you the ropes. Sign up for a month of coaching to see a coach in action and have them guide you in your new career.

Don’t be afraid to check out local coaching groups, where experienced coaches give presentations and seminars. Form a network of coaches in the same niche who are willing to share tips, advice, and a sense of community. Sign up for free coaching classes to learn the basics of “coaching 101” and develop the fundamental coaching skills.

Money Generation and Building Your Practice

You know the niche you want to coach in, have obtained training and/or experience, and now want to open a practice. You can choose to branch out on your own with an online practice or join an already established practice

In addition to coaching skills, you will also need to development your business skills to run and maintain the business as well as marketing skills to get clients.

By coaching, you’ll generate a steady income. You can show people how to succeed in their niche; these are people who want help from someone who have been there and they are willing to pay for your help so they can be successful, too.

If it’s in a niche like dieting or health/wellness, then your coaching might take them on a 6-week challenge of change. If it is group coaching, these individuals can be pillars of support for one another while you coach them with your guidance.

As a business coach, you will be a mentor to them. Your job will be to guide them through all areas associated with their business. Some of these areas might include the best way to grow their income, how they can become an expert and how they can market their business.

You can set up your coaching business in 30, 60 or 90 day cycles, for example. Obviously, the 90 day cycles would need to cost a little more since you’re not rotating in new members as often.

You can teach through your online forum, through webinars, Facebook groups, or through tutorials on private video sharing sites. You can establish contact with your clients through Skype or Google Hangouts, through phone calls, through emails or in an online group that you set up.

You’ll want to make it clear when you’re marketing your coaching skills – what benefits your clients will receive. A business coach might want to mention specific ways that she can help her clients. This might be something along the lines of how you can teach them to be successful using email or video marketing. You can offer ways to teach them how to build a web presence, how to establish a growing platform, how to blog, incorporate social media and more.

Once you have obtained steady customers and established your practice, you can expand your business by adding more programs, books, training products, and services to develop additional income streams.

How to Succeed in Making Money Online – Membership Websites

How to Succeed in Making Money Online – Membership Websites

How to Succeed in Making Money Online: Membership Sites

Welcome to the Making Money Online series. In part one, I introduced you to the concept of affiliates and discussed how to make money online with affiliate marketing programs. That was followed up with part two and the discussion about incorporating and developing information product creation to your website.

In the third part of the series, our main focus will be on membership marketing sites. There is a good reason that membership sites are popular business avenues with Internet Marketers. Its popularity stems from the fact that they provide a consistent monthly income and in a lot of cases, this can be a great deal of money.

What is a Membership Site

A membership site is a private website with exclusive content that allows members the ability to interact with one another. As the membership site owner, these members pay you a monthly fee to have access to the site and all of its contents. An example of a membership site is Authority, which is a highly popular content marketing training and networking community. It is so popular that they have a membership waiting list.

Researching Membership Sites

If you plan out and implement a membership site, it won’t take you months or years to generate enough income online to be able to support yourself. If you design it properly, you can grow your site as well as your income very quickly.

What you have to do first when thinking about creating a membership site is to figure out if you have an audience that’s willing to pay well for access to your site.

If you are thinking about starting a membership site in a particular niche but can’t find other sites in the same niche that can be a warning sign. Though it’s not always the case, not having competition in a niche could potentially mean that the audience is not interested enough in your idea.

But don’t let that stop you from doing a bit of research on the topic as it can also be a sign that your niche is too narrow. If you broaden your niche and find membership sites, then you have found your market.

When you have a niche in mind, you will want to look at other successful membership sites. A good suggestion is to join some of these other sites if possible. Think about it this way – if you were going to open a car dealership in a city, then the first thing you would do is scope out other car dealerships in the area.

You don’t do this so you can steal their cars or so you can duplicate their marketing. You do this so you can study the other dealerships’ successes and failures. Review these sites for:

  • What is working well
  • What does the site lack (add these to your own site)
  • Is the site worth the fee you are paying
  • How can you replicate the good things on your own site
  • Do they offer resources and are they easy to find

Knowing what works well in your niche can position your membership site for success.

Building Your Membership Site

The next thing you need to do is decide how you are going to build your membership site. You can build a membership site by using software like WordPress and a plugin like S2 Membership. This will help keep your costs down – especially in the beginning.

But if you do go this route, it also means that you are virtually on your own for technical support. Since the backend management is the toughest part of having your own membership site, you need to compile a list of trusted service providers.

You want several providers that are capable of dealing with technical problems and can troubleshoot if something breaks down and you need help. If you would rather not deal with this hassle, then you could consider paying for membership software like aMember Professional. This means that if something does break, you’ll have a dedicated team that you can reach out to for help.

When you start building your site, you’ll want to assemble a team of moderators. Unless you plan on being chained to your computer for days on end in the beginning, you’ll need moderators. These should be people that support your vision and can help enforce member rules.

You probably already have some followers who would make great moderators. Look for the people who always comment on your blog posts, that promote your newest products, and that may already be involved in other communities. To make it worth their while, you can give moderators free membership and even throw in some perks from time to time.

Where to Go From Here

In this article, I was only able to touch upon a fraction of the things you will need to consider when developing and implementing a membership site. If you are seriously considering setting up a membership site, I highly recommend doing further research and signing up for an ecourse which will take you through the steps from start to finish.

If you have a membership site, I would love for you to share your experiences with my readers by commenting to this post. If you are member of a membership site, what are some of your favorites and what things do you like about them?

Please come back again to read part 4 of the series where I discuss making money online as a freelancer.

How to Succeed in Making Money Online – Information Product Creation

How to Succeed in Making Money Online – Information Product Creation

How to Succeed In Making Money Online: Information Product Creation
How to Succeed In Making Money Online: Information Product Creation

Last week I spoke about how to succeed in Making Money Online by utilizing Affiliate Marketing. This week I am continuing the series by introducing you to information product creation.

Information Product Creation

Information product creation is another lucrative way that you can make money online. But this area of money making has a lot of other benefits as well. When you write and then promote your own informational product, this helps establish you as an expert in whatever niche that you are in.

It also works to strengthen whatever brand you are trying to develop and on the plus side it gives you a source of passive income. Passive income is the kind of money (income) flow that can put cash in your pocket for many months or even years after you have created your product.

One of the reasons that some people don’t create any informational products is that they believe they have to do all of the work themselves. But you don’t; there are many successful Internet marketers who use service providers who perform micro jobs to help them.

Service Providers/Micro Job Companies

The top service providers/micro job companies in 2016 are:

  • Fiverr – for as little as $5 you can hire individuals that enjoy helping you get whatever task you need (blogging, ghost writer, digital marketing, etc.) done at an unbeatable value.
  • SEOClerks – with gigs starting as low as $1, SEOClerks is a marketplace dedicated for all SEO related services from link building to social signals. They also offer services such as article writing, tutorials and guides, virtual assisting, and social networking.
  • GigBucks – for $5 to $50, you can hire expert digital marketers, creatives, writers/freelancer, SEO wizards, and so much more.
  • Fourerr – they have the same services as Fiverr, just start their gigs at $4.
  • TenBux – starting at $10, you can hire experts in writing, web design, graphics, advertising, digital products, and more.
  • FiverUp – offers the same services as Fiverr and Fourerr and you can hire experts from $4 to $100 per gig and

By paying a service provider, you can shorten the amount of time that it takes to create a product. Plus, this can help you in any areas of the creation process that may not be your strong point.

For example, if you’re good with graphics, then you should create your own graphics because it will be cheaper and easier if you do that. But if you’re not, then you should outsource.

The same thing with writing; if you are not great with writing, then try to outsource to a professional ghostwriter. Even if you outsource things like writing, you will want to put your own unique voice into the final product.

Once you’ve completed your product, you will still need to market it. This is where a lot of new marketers go wrong. You need a marketing plan. Having a solid marketing plan can make the difference between a launch that soars and one that flops.

Marketing Your Product

Your marketing plan needs to go into effect before your launch ever happens. You can start by mentioning on social media that you are working on a special project then post hints and teaser in the following weeks.

This will make your followers curious and make them more likely to read about your product when you’re finally ready to release it. Every good marketing plan should include an affiliate program.

You want an army of affiliates that are eager to share your product with their own followers. This not only brings you more cash, but it also gives you more subscribers and helps you find new customers.

You don’t have to manage your affiliates yourself because this can be a big job. Instead, you can use a platform like ClickBank, JVZoo, or Warrior Plus. By using these platforms, you’ll have access to affiliates who are already looking for great products to promote.

In order to get the best affiliates promoting your products and helping you earn more money, you need to set a good commission rate. No one wants to promote your product for only a ten percent commission.

The best affiliate promoters usually expect half the purchase price of the item they’re promoting. If this seems like a lot, remember that good affiliates can put your product on the bestseller lists, which will result in even more sales for you.

But setting a generous commission rate isn’t the only thing you need to do. You should also create plenty of extras so that it’s easy for your affiliates to promote your info products.

Some of the tools that you could give your affiliates include graphics, product links, comparison charts, email autoresponder swipe files, free bonuses and more.

Once your product has launched, you will get returning as well as new customers signing up to your list. Many of them will have questions about the product. Make sure you handle inquiries promptly and don’t outsource customer service until your business grows to a point where it’s impossible for you to handle it yourself.

If you like what you are learning then stay tuned for part three of the money making series where we will discuss how to start a successful membership site.

How to Succeed in Making Money Online – Affiliate Marketing

How to Succeed in Making Money Online: Affiliate Marketing

How to Succeed in Making Money Online (Series Part 1)

In this special money making online series, we will discuss five potential ways to make income online.

As you may know, individuals can make a few dollars working online or with a little hard work they can make a whole lot more. How many times have you seen online ads and email messages touting “make $10,000 a month running a blog”? What you earn depends on which direction you go and what kind of work you decide to go into. Some people choose to focus only on one area which brings in a smaller paycheck, while others like to diversify their areas.

Successful online marketers recommend using a variety of income potential ways to bring in the most earning possibilities. It’s always better to have some variety when it comes to making money. That way, if one avenue suddenly changes or stagnates, you will still be making money in your other endeavors.

Many of these methods of making money online require little or no money to get started – and you can build them quickly. Even if you don’t have all of the knowledge you’d like to have about what niche you’d like to get started in, that’s not important as you can learn as you go along.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing can be an easy way to make money because you don’t have the time and expense of creating your own product. But out of the various business branches you can get into, affiliate marketing might bring sales, but it also might take longer to start paying out for you if you’re promoting on sites that have a two-month payment window, like Amazon Associates.

As a general rule, affiliate marketing is not the answer if you’re in a bind and need quick cash. This is more of a long-term, steady type of way to bring in an income.

There are a few ways that affiliate market can pay off. If you’re someone who has a platform (such as a blog/website, Facebook group, Instagram, Twitter, or YouTube channel), then you’re already ahead of those who don’t. Affiliate marketing works best if you have an audience in place that trusts you.

If people don’t trust you, then they’ll be more hesitant to buy from you. To build this needed trust with your audience, you have to make sure that you’re open about any connection that you have to the product. Always disclose if you are an affiliate, personal customer, or product tester.

If you received a free copy of the product in exchange for a review or for promoting it, then you have to disclose that information. Second, never promote a product that’s junk or is questionable just to make a sale. If you do that, your audience will feel duped and will refuse to trust your recommendations in the future.

On any products that you do promote, make sure that they are items from marketers who are known to provide excellent customer service. On my personal website, I include sidebar links and the occasional in post link to products and services. My policy is not to advertise, endorse, or affiliate with any product or service that I don’t personally use nor have first-hand knowledge of its effectiveness.

If you’re sharing a product from a marketer who has poor customer service, that will reflect badly on you. When you look for products to promote, you’ll want to make sure that you don’t put all of your eggs (potential commissions) in one basket.

In the past, many affiliates relied solely on Amazon for their earnings. Then when some states wanted to charge a tax on purchases from Amazon, the affiliate programs in those states ended up being shut down.

Because of this issue, affiliates in those states were left scrambling to find other affiliate programs to replace this lost income. One of the biggest issues that puzzle people who want to get started in affiliate marketing is not knowing which products to promote.

Finding ideas in this area is fairly easy as all you have to do is look at your own life.  If you create content about fitness and use at-home exercise equipment, then you could write reviews about the products you use and include affiliate links to some of them.

You want to be careful that you don’t overdo it with links or your audience and search engines might think your site is a spam site. Some experts recommend that you don’t just rely on banners on your site.

When you’re first starting out, it can be tempting to assume that banners will be your biggest money makers since they’re front and center – but the truth is that most banners don’t convert very well. That is because most readers see banners and think of them as advertisements. So they ignore them. It’s called ad blindness, or banner blindness. What does work is having a contextual link.

This is a link in the middle of whatever content you’ve written about a product. You can include these links in reviews or articles on your site about the item. Another way that you can find products to promote is to see what other marketers and bloggers in your niche are successfully promoting.

Don’t be afraid to promote the same products because you may reach readers that don’t read or subscribe to your competitors’ sites. They might simply trust you more than someone else.

Even if a reader is subscribed to your mailing list and your competitors’, you still have a good chance of making a commission since studies show that some buyers will only make a buying decision after being exposed to the same product multiple times.
